Dr. Belton is a scientific co-investigator on the EPOXI mission and will serve
under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Michael A’Hearn. He is
associated with the DIXI part of the mission which will take the Deep Impact
spacecraft to comet 85P/Boethin on December 5, 2008. His specific tasks will be
to assist in planning, reduction and analysis of approach and departure
observations with special emphasis on understanding the spin state of the
nucleus, outbursts of activity, and understanding the applicability of the TALPS
concept, developed following the discovery of widespread layering by the Deep
Impact mission, in light of new observations.
